Born in Sri Lanka in 1965, social entrepreneur, Rhuani Rambukwelle grew up in Colombo,Sri Lanka. Her father Kavan Rambukwelle was a Trinitian and a famous Rugby player of his time and was with the Bartleet Group (a dynamic conglomerate with multiple interests) for 40 years as a Director. She spent many happy years with father Kavan, mother Anne and Her brother Ramesh, who is a musician playing piano and violin, currently living in the USA.
Rhuani Rambukwelle attended Ladies College, a leading girls school in Colombo, where she enjoyed group actvities in the sports arena and as a girl's guide, engaged in social service projects. She excelled in subjects that interested her. Her passion for art started during the school days, to become a renowned artist of today.
Rhuani Rambukwelle, with her artistic and design skills, started her early working life as a graphic designer and spent several years in two major advertising firms in Sri Lanka, Grants and Masters. Having made significant progress in the arena of Creative Design and Media, Rhuani Rambukwelle, ventured into business, where she started from scratch and developed a Graphic Design Company - Kurio Ishon, Graphic Design Company and a Silk Screen printing Company Rhuomai. These two businesses were successful ventures.
Whilst being a successful businessperson, Rhuani Rambukwelle has made an invaluable contribution to society to date. In the 1980s, she was on the Board of Community Concern Society, an NGO that focused on drug rehabilitation and provided shelter and support for abused women, giving hope and a future. She was on the Board of Lotus Buds, a children’s home. In the 1990s,she was a board member of the Lanka Prison Fellowship, working inside the prison with women and children who were born there.
As patron of the Charities Salt Shakers and Piyapath Lanka (www.piyapathlanka.com) Rhuani Rambukwelle continues to engage in activities to enhance the lives of of the underprivileged by improving their living standards, empowering children, and looking after the elderly in society.
in 2006. Rhuani Rambukwelle founded the Enforcers of the Call.,now an International organisation with the objective of transforming nations. Enforcers of the Call trains people to be voices of truth in a world of lies, builds unity through sports, discusses and propagates truth and justice, raises leaders for the next generation and engages in securing help from the able to assist the underprivileged and the afflicted. Rhuani Rambukwelle continues to be the President of the organisation and has a formidable team in Sri Lanka and other parts of the world.
Rhuani Rambukwelle remains to be the Sri Lankan co-ordinator for Catch The Fire and the President of the International Christian Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka.
Rhuani Rambukwelle had the privilege of meeting amazing artists from different Asian countries when she was handpicked to be one of the board members of the Asian Christian Art Association.
This expanded her vision and mission in art. In 2002 she started Hardy Centre of Art named after her maternal grandfather, who was an art teacher at Trinity College, Kandy. It remains to be, the most innovative art teaching and guidance centre where people of all ages are taught the skills of art with various mediums. She is gifted in inspiring non-artists and transforming them into amazing artists that eventually sell their artworks.
